Event rooms and halls
If you are planning an event or meeting, Wernberg Castle offers you ideal facilities: in the middle of romantic surroundings, our historic banquet halls are suitable for all kinds of events.
Whether it be a wedding or reception:
The technical facilities and culinary offerings can cater for all requirements. Special power connections make it possible to use wireless microphones in all of the events rooms. And our selection of suggestions for set meals and small dishes for banquets speaks for itself.
Prince Room
At 95 m² the Prince Room is the largest room in the castle and it is also the building’s pièce de résistance.
Roughly 80 people can be accommodated for events such as weddings at large, round tables which are conducive to conversation and whose chairs can be provided in blue or red, the choice is yours.
The wrought-iron ceiling chandelier, specially made by the Munich forger Stefan Herzog, accentuates the original ceiling preserved from 1478 and also the natural wooden floorboards.
This contrasts with the plain, friendly design of the rest of the room and the bright, arched window alcoves.
Fireplace Room
In contrast to the discreetly decorated Prince Room, the Fireplace Room has a rather cheerful feel to it. Detailed touches such as an elegant fireplace, baroque, golden mirrors and handmade, filigree candlestick holders in gold give the room a festive atmosphere.
The main focus here is on shades of gold which lend elegance to the room. From the large, round balcony, guests can look down on the small town of Wernberg.
The Fireplace Room can accommodate 45 people.
Timber-Framed Room
To restore this room for very special occasions, concealed original timber framing was uncovered in a complicated renovation process. The wooden ceiling dating from the 16th century was also revealed during the process. The impressive surroundings created as a result of this provide the romantic setting for couples getting married who want to exchange vows in the room, which is used as a registry office.
By contrast, you can still enjoy state-of-the-art technology with a complete system including TV, video and CD, stylishly concealed in an ancient chest which is pivoted out using special hydraulics.
The Timber-Framed Room can accommodate roughly 15 people for banquets and receptions which if necessary can be extended into the adjoining library.
Library
The restoration of the Library also revealed a beautiful wooden ceiling and original timber framing. The cosy atmosphere is accentuated by an English ambience with a heavy leather couch and armchairs.
Incidentally, a well-stocked house bar was cleverly incorporated into the wall which from the outside looks like a door until you fold it open and invite your guests to enjoy a drink.
The Library is therefore an ideal place to relax and for evening get-togethers to chat with other guests.
Castle Cellar
In this historic tunnel vault you will feel like the ancient knights. Halberds and spears on the walls and shields, which were prepared specially for this room by Upper Palatinate forgers and act as lampshades, will take you back to a bygone era.
This is the perfect venue for our elegant, medieval "knights’ banquet".
